It's the start of a new year and we have a great featured traveler to kick it off! Angela Walter is one of our amazing Cath Lab RNs! Caroline Kampfe is Angela's recruiter and was ecstatic to nominate her for Traveler of the Month!
"She is incredibly reliable, represents Fusion very well, consistently gets asked to extend, positive attitude, refers great people to Fusion, excellent clinical Cat Lab skills! I love working with Angela, and feel lucky to have her as part of the Fusion team!" - Caroline Kampfe, Senior Account Manager (Cath Lab)
We asked Angela to tell us a little bit about herself...
How long have you been a traveler? April will be 4 years
What do you love most about being a nurse? Tell us a little about being a Cath Lab RN too. I love going to different places. I am from a very small town, Brookville PA. I never really traveled anywhere prior to being a Travel Nurse. Being a Cath Lab RN is extremely rewarding! The hours can be long; and getting called out at 3 am is NOT fun! However when you know you helped save a life, being woke up by the shrill of the beeper doesn’t seem so bad.
What do you love about FUSION? Fusion is great! Caroline listens to what is important to me and gets me what I need! There is a mutual respect at Fusion that I have not found with other companies.
Your favorite travel spot so far? Your dream spot? My favorite travel spot so far was Long Island, New York. My dream spot would be anyplace close to my family.
What is the most fun or interesting thing you’ve done while on assignment? (non-work related). While in Kansas I took a weekend to visit my sister in Wintergreen, Colorado. While there she took me up a mountain where we encountered the first tornado ever seen on the top of a mountain. I got some great pictures! (see below!)
Hobbies? How you spend your time off? I quilt, sew, machine embroider, crochet and I am attempting to master knitting. I also go home a lot to visit with my family.
If you could time travel, what decade would you head back to first? I would travel back to the time of King Arthurs Court. I love those movies!
Any weird facts about yourself? Nope, I am as normal as they come. Although I am sure those who know me would differ!
If you could only take 3 items with you on a travel assignment, what would they be? My sewing machine, my computer, and fabric
Advice for new travelers? Have confidence in your abilities and be yourself!
If not a traveling RN, what would be your “other” career? I would own a quilt and sewing shop!
Favorite junk food/guilty pleasure? Favorite junk food is salty potato chips. Guilty pleasures are weekends spent with my husband and family. My husband is at home while I travel, so we often meet in the “middle”. I also have 4 grandchildren ages 7,3,2, and 6 months. So going home when possible is important!
How do you stay in touch with friends and family when you’re on assignment? Cell phones and Facebook!
Thanks for being an awesome additional to the Fusion Family, Angela! Here's to a new year and many more years of travel!
