It is National Cardiovascular Professionals Week, so we thought it was a great time to talk about how much we love our Cath Lab division AND of course of Cath Lab RNs. Have you met the team? Our Cath Lab Division is the newest group at Fusion, at just over a year old. Run by these four ladies, it is not a group to be reckoned with! What do YOU love about being a Cath Lab RN?
Bridget Weber Background: Born in Fremont, Nebraska and spent a very short amount of time in Washington State and Montana before moving back to Omaha where I've lived ever since! I've been in the wonder world of Staffing since 2004 . . . yes its been a long time:) I've been at Fusion for 1.5 years. What do you love about this industry? Love about Fusion? The best thing about this industry is working with people. You have the opportunity to work with great people that you meet over the phone. I've had the opportunity to develop several friendships over the years with people that I've still never had the pleasure of meeting in person:) Best thing about Fusion . . . the culture! I work for a company who truly care about their people - not just within our office walls but those out in the field as well. What do you want all travelers to know? The best thing from a traveler is someone who is honest and up front about what they need and what is going on with their current situation. I want to help each traveler meet their individual goals and needs which the only way to do that is by knowing as much info up front and honest communication. If you were a traveling Cath Lab RN, where would your first assignment be? My first assignment would be in Colorado. I have good friends in the area and its not too far from home for the first assignment. Hobbies in your free time? Working out, Shopping, Going to the lake when its warm, Spending time with my family and friends, going to NE Football and Basketball games, I'm up for anything fun! Fun/Weird Fact about yourself? I have crooked pinkies Advice for a RN considering travel? Ask as many questions as possible . . . don't be afraid to ask questions. The more information you have and the more you feel that you can trust your recruiter the better experience you'll have overall. What do you enjoy about working with Cath Lab specific RNs? I LOVE working with Cath Lab, IR and EP RN's and techs. There is something about this group that is special. They are so specialized and skilled at what they do and you can tell how much they truly care about their patients! Favorite quote or something that makes you feel inspired? I don't really have a favorite quote. I love hearing people's personal stories . . . everyone seems to have some story which is usually inspirational learning where they come from and what they've overcome, etc.
Background I am from Omaha, born and raised! I have been with Fusion for almost one year, and have a total of 4 years of experience in the staffing industry. What do you love about this industry? Love about Fusion? I love that there is never a dull moment in this industry. There is always something to work towards, and it is very rewarding to find that perfect match between the right candidate and the right facility. I love the culture here at Fusion. We all work very well together and are kind of like a big family. We are able to treat our employees the way that I have always wanted to treat the travelers that I work with, which is one of the reason that we are so successful as a company. What do you want all travelers to know? I enjoy working with travelers that I can trust. Trust goes both ways, and I make sure to lay that foundation from the beginning! If you were a traveling Cath Lab RN, where would your first assignment be? Somewhere in Colorado. Hobbies in your free time? I love going out for dinner (and maybe a few drinks!), love music and going to concerts, I also enjoy watching football (especially the Huskers), working out, and spending time with my family. Fun/Weird Fact about yourself? I have a Biology degree and Chemistry minor, and now I’m working in sales. Very different from where I thought I’d be! Advice for a RN considering travel? Make sure that you can trust in your recruiter and your company. If travel is a career goal, it is important to remain as open to new locations as possible to ensure consistent employment. What do you enjoy about working with Cath Lab specific RNs? I love the level of professionalism that Cath Lab RNs and Cath Lab Techs have. The travelers that I work with are all very trustworthy, respectful, and have a lot of integrity. Favorite quote or something that inspires you? Music is probably the biggest thing that “pumps me up.” I love alternative rock and roll. My daughter Zoe inspires me!
Background: I’m from Lincoln, NE. I’ve been doing staffing for almost 8 years, and almost 1 year at Fusion. What do you love about this industry? Love about Fusion? I love getting to help my travelers and build relationships with them! I love that Fusion gives me the support and freedom that I need to do this. What do you want all travelers to know? I look for reliability, honesty, work ethic, respect. If you were a traveling Cath Lab RN, where would your first assignment be? Flagstaff, AZ. The Director there is awesome, and used to traveler for our current Fusion Cath Lab manager. The location is great, mountains to ski, great weather, close to Vegas and Phoenix. The staff is wonderful in the Cath Lab! I just got back from visiting in person, and it is beautiful there! Hobbies in your free time? I like to work out, cheer on the Huskers, and spend time with my boyfriend, friends, and family! Fun/Weird Fact about yourself? I am pretty goofy and love to laugh! Advice for a RN considering travel? Find somebody that you trust to travel for! What do you enjoy about working with Cath Lab specific RNs? Cath Lab RNs have such an important role. I really respect what they do, the difficulty and hard work that it requires. Having mutual respect between traveler and account manager is so important! Favorite quote or something that pumps you up? Eye of the Tiger just comes to mind, haha!
Background: I have been in the staffing industry for 3 years, and at Fusion for 4 months. I am originally from kind of all over, I have lived on the east coast, the great state of Wyoming, and went to high school in Seattle and undgrad in Denver. I ended up in the Midwest after graduate school where I met the love of my life and will be getting married in August! What do you love about this industry? Love about Fusion? I love meeting new people and getting to make long last close friendships with them. I love fusion because they truly care about internal and external employees, they have our best interest at heart, and are always willing to have open and honest conversations. It makes things so nice to take all the politics out! What do you want all travelers to know? Being a traveler takes real courage, you walk into a new facility, a new city all on your own. You will grow more, and experience things you never thought possible while traveling, all the while making good money and new friendships. When your traveling you are at the disposal of each facility, while it isn't glamorous all the time, it is something that will teach you more about yourself and what you want out of life than ever possible. Remember to reach out to your recruiters for advice, and support. If you were a traveling Cath Lab RN, where would your first assignment be? My first assignment would be in Alaska if they would take me! You have to have previous travel to go there for most assignments, but I have always wanted to go to Alaska so badly! My second assignment would be in the New England area. If you have ever seen White Christmas, I have always wanted to go up there and spend the winter. Hobbies in your free time? My Fiancé and I love to camp. We have an awesome camper that is nicer than my first 3 apartments. It even has a fire place. My dad, who does not like to camp, makes me refer to it as "Glamping" because with accommodations like we have, it's really not camping. Fun/Weird Fact about yourself? I am obsessed with Snow! I was obsessed with it before Frozen, I love the way it looks, I love cold, and I really love that weird silence that comes when it's snowing really hard! I just love everything about it! Advice for a RN considering travel? Be open to new things. The most important thing you need is to trust your recruiter. We staff these hospitals know which ones are going to be best for first assignments, or for the big things you’re looking for! The other thing to remember is to stay positive, what can I learn from this? If I am homesick, what can I do to make me feel plugged in? What do you enjoy about working with Cath Lab specific RNs? Maybe go in depth on what all they do! I really enjoy working with Cath Lab RN's because they really do save lives. The things they do on a daily basis make it possible for family to be able to stay together for years to come. It's truly amazing! Favorite quote or something that inspires you? It is for us to pray not for tasks equal to our powers, but for powers equal to our tasks, to go forward with a great desire forever beating at the door of our hearts as we travel toward our distant goal. – Helen Keller
