Behind-the-Scenes: Meet Some of the Internal Nurses Shaping Fusion

Meet Carly, Emily, and Kim

Carly Snider, long-term care nursing recruiter

Carly Snider_nursing-minNursing has always been more than a career to Carly — it’s a calling. With a deep-rooted passion for helping others and a special bond with the elderly, she built a rewarding 19-year career in long-term care, specializing in memory care, Alzheimer's, dementia, and geriatrics.

“The human connection — the ability to bring comfort, healing, and support — is what inspired me to become a nurse, and what continues to motivate me,” Carly said. “A large part of my life as a nurse has been building relationships, and I am forever grateful for all of the residents, families, caretakers, and healthcare workers that I have had the pleasure of getting to know and care about.”

For Carly, every resident was family, and she challenged her team of certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and medication aides to learn the residents’ stories, celebrate their personalities, and notice even the slightest changes that may otherwise go unseen.

“Whether it’s holding a patient’s hand during a difficult time or advocating for their needs when they can’t, or just making a resident smile or laugh, being a nurse allows me to make a real difference every single day,” said Carly.

Emily Coniglio, clinical liaison

As the oldest of six children growing up on a farm, she learned young what it meant to nurture and protect. Whether it was looking after her younger siblings or trying to save every injured kitten and creature she came across, Emily was drawn to help others heal.

“I’ve been helping care for people and things my whole life,” Emily said. “I don’t know that there was ever another profession I was really interested in.”

After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), Emily began her career in the post-intensive unit. But it was in postpartum and mother-baby care where she truly found her rhythm. Over nearly 14 years, Emily supported families through some of their most vulnerable and beautiful moments — working across postpartum, grower feeder neonatal intensive care, labor and delivery transition, and antepartum units.

“Were there times I questioned my career choice?” Emily shared. “Yes. But I also don’t know that I would’ve chosen anything different.”

At the heart of it, nursing was never just a job for Emily; it was a lifelong instinct to care, comfort, and be present.

Kim Robinson, vice president of clinical and compliance

Kim Robinson_today-minKim didn’t just stumble into nursing — it’s in her blood. Growing up, Kim’s grandmother was a nurse, and Kim watched as she poured love and strength into every patient she cared for. Then when Kim’s younger sister was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, hospital stays became part of her family’s life and Kim saw up close what it meant to care for those at their most vulnerable. That’s when she knew she wanted to be that for someone else.

“Witnessing my sister’s care and the support provided by the nurses during that challenging time solidified my desire to become a nurse," Kim said. “These experiences have deeply influenced my decision to dedicate my life to nursing.”

Fast-forward and that decision turned into a 19-year career fostered by heart and grit. Kim started in long-term care as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), then stepped into life as a registered nurse (RN) spending over a decade in the intensity of the emergency department. Over the years, she also brought her care and calmness to orthopedics, med-surg, and the cardiac cath lab.

While each role came with new lessons, new patients, and new stories, at the core of it all was the same driving force: the dedication to show up, to serve, and to offer others the same kind of compassion her grandmother once spread.

What it means to us to support you

For us, supporting you and fellow healthcare travelers isn’t just part of the job — it’s personal. Because with internal nursing experts like Carly, Emily, and Kim, we know firsthand how you show up with resilience, tenderness, and heart.

Although Carly, Emily, and Kim may not be working bedside anymore, every decision they make, every conversation they have, and every ounce of support they offer to Fusion Medical Staffing travelers like you is rooted in years of hands-on experience. They’ve been in your shoes — and now, they’re here to walk alongside you in a different way.

“I feel like I can make good connections with my travelers no matter what their role is,” Carly said. “I can relate and use real life experiences to help them work through different situations. Being a strong and supportive recruiter is important to me.”

It’s that lived experience that gives these internal nurses the ability to lead with empathy. They know the emotional highs and lows that come with the job. They’ve felt the weight of long shifts, tough calls, and moments where you just need someone to listen.

“I think having a clinical background allows me to keep an open mind on most topics,” Emily shared. “Healthcare has changed throughout the years, and I think nurses and healthcare workers need the support more than ever, even if it is just to talk about their experience or vent. I know from personal experience that healthcare can be a tough job, so support is key.”

Support can take many forms. Sometimes it’s problem-solving, sometimes it’s encouragement, and sometimes it’s just being there. For Carly, it’s also about staying close to the part of nursing that first inspired her.

“Being a recruiter in long-term care has allowed me to stay connected to my roots as a nurse,” Carly said. “I really enjoy taking with nurses, CNAs, and medication aides, hearing about their experience and stories, and helping them find awesome travel opportunities. It’s a different way of sharing my experience and expertise, which I love!”

For Carly, Emily, and Kim, their clinical backgrounds aren’t just part of their resumes — they’re the foundation of how they lead, support, and advocate for you every day.

Words of wisdom from us, with love

Nursing is more than a skill set. It’s a calling grounded in compassion, empathy, and the quiet strength to show up for others in their most vulnerable moments. That heart is something the internal nurses at Fusion Medial Staffing can carry with them every single day. Though they’ve stepped away from the bedside, the lessons they’ve learned continue to guide how they show up for travelers like you.

“Treat every patient with the same care and compassion as you would a member of your own family,” said Kim. “In times of difficulty, it’s ok to share in the emotion with the patient and their loved ones — after all, we are human too.”

Working in healthcare isn’t always easy. But even in the chaos and hard days, there’s power in remembering your why.

“When things get tough — because they do — you really have to remember why you chose to do what you do,” Emily said.

And as much as nurses pour into others, they can often forget to pour into themselves. But support doesn’t mean just backing each other up at work — it also means caring for yourself along the way.

“Nurses need to remember to take care of each other and be an advocate for self, as well as others,” she said. “Nursing can be quite thankless and self-sacrificing — remember to prioritize taking care of yourself too.”

It can be tough to take in the full scope of what you offer as a nurse: strength, mentorship, resilience. But as Carly said: “Each day you can make a difference. Take pride in what you do and be the best nurse you can be. Tough times don’t last, but nurses do.”

At its core, nursing is about connections: to patients, to purpose, and to each other. For us, it’s about supporting you. With internal nurses like Carly, Emily, and Kim working hard behind the scenes — helping troubleshoot tough situations, offering guidance when things get rough, and simply being someone who gets it — you’re never alone when you travel with Fusion Medical Staffing.
