Fusion Traveler Benefits Breakdown 2025
Health insurance plans
Having health insurance is essential for healthcare professionals. With comprehensive medical insurance, you can be confident that any health or medical expense incurred during your travels will be taken care of without putting you into financial debt.
When you travel with us, you have options when it comes to health insurance. Fusion Medical Staffing offers three medical plans through Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield that provide comprehensive medical and prescription drug coverage, as well as additional tools and resources to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Each preferred provider organization (PPO) plan has a calendar-year deductible — aka, an amount you pay for health services before insurance starts to help pay. So, how do you know which insurance plan you should sign up for?
Imagine this: you wake up one day feeling sick and decide to schedule a health care visit. With a lower deductible PPO insurance plan, you’ll likely pay a set copay for the visit. With one of the higher deductible PPO plans, you’ll be responsible for the full cost of services until the deductible is met. Once the high deductible is met, the plan will cover 100% of the services.
Regardless of which healthcare insurance plan you opt for, you could also benefit from PrudentRx. This free, specialty prescription copay assistance program could help cover the cost of your medications.
Having health insurance as a provider is an essential layer of security and empowers you to focus on providing quality care to your patients without worrying about your own well-being.
Dental insurance options
Having dental insurance is an important part of taking care of your overall health. Regular visits to the dentist are essential for maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing gum diseases, cavities, and other dental issues that can negatively impact your health and well-being. If you’re wondering if investing in dental benefits is worth it, let us be the first to say yes.
When you travel with us at Fusion Medical Staffing, you can choose between two Ameritas dental plans: a high plan or a low plan. Both plans cover 100% of your annual exams, cleanings, and X-rays. However, only the high plan has orthodontia coverage.
No matter which dental plan you go with, Ameritas offers additional rewards for its members. To reap the added benefits, just visit your dentist at least once a year and keep your claims under your dental benefits threshold. You could carry over up to $250 to the next year’s maximum. As a bonus, if you see an in-network Ameritas provider, you could add an additional $100 to the following year’s maximum.
Another layer of dental insurance offered is the option to sign up for SoundCare Hearing Health Benefits at no additional cost to you if you’re enrolled in the Ameritas dental insurance plan. What that means is you’ll receive a $75 allowance for a comprehensive hearing exam, a $40 allowance for hearing aid maintenance and repairs, plus a $250 year-one maximum benefit with the opportunity to increase that max cash benefit over time.
Vision plan
Seeing is an integral part of the job of healthcare professionals, whether you’re a nurse or allied health traveler, so it’s important to have vision care. Not only does it provide coverage for routine eye exams and corrective lenses, but it can also help with more serious health issues related to eyesight, like glaucoma or cataracts.
Through Fusion Medical Staffing, you have the option to enroll in vision coverage with an Ameritas vision (VSP) plan. This vision plan offers an annual eye exam covered in full, as well as an allowance for new glasses or contact lenses.
Retirement 401(K) plan
Although retirement may seem like a long way away, future-you will thank you for investing in a 401(K). And with us, you have the option to participate in one!
Having a 401(K) is an important part of your financial security because it allows you to save for retirement while also taking advantage of tax incentives and employer-matching contributions. Investing in a 401(K) now could mean more money available for retirement later down the road.
Fusion Medical Staffing offers retirement plans for travel nurses and allied travelers through Principal. Employees are eligible to start contributing to their 401(K) after 30 days of employment, which is also when Fusion Medical Staffing will start matching contributions. The matching contributions are calculated at 100% for the first 3% and 50% for the next 2% of employee contributions.
Employee assistance program (EAP)
Another perk of traveling with us is gaining access to the TELUS Health EAP at no cost to you. Through TELUS Health, Fusion Medical Staffing healthcare travelers and their family members have access to free and confidential support.
Whether you’re in need of mental, financial, physical, or social resources, the TELUS Health EAP has what you need. Plus, this EAP offers 24/7 confidential support, five free counseling sessions, and a perks and discounts program when shopping online.

When can I enroll or make changes to my benefits plan?
There are a couple ways you can update your employer benefits — during open enrollment or because of a qualifying life event.
The open enrollment period allows you to review and update your coverage options. But if you experience a major life change like marriage, childbirth or adoption, or losing health coverage, you may qualify to adjust your benefits to fit your new circumstances outside of the open enrollment period.
When do my traveler healthcare benefits start?
All Fusion-offered healthcare traveler benefits start on day one of your employment date. That means you don’t have to wait for the end of a grace period to start utilizing your insurance; instead, it’s active as soon as you start with us.
