ProtectedonYourTravelJobIn the healthcare travel system, lack of traveler protection is considered especially heinous. That’s why we offer several layers of protection to Fusion Medical Staffing healthcare professionals.

From allied and travel nurse liability insurance to an employee assistance program, and much more in-between, when you travel with us, you can be covered no matter where your healthcare travel job takes you. These are the protection coverage options provided for allied health or travel nurse assignments.

8 Ways We Offer Traveler Protection on Your Healthcare Travel Job

Professional liability insurance

Your work environment can be hectic and high-stakes — even the best of the best can face unexpected challenges. That’s where liability insurance comes in handy.

Professional liability insurance, sometimes known as malpractice insurance, is a must-have for travel nurses and allied professionals because it protects you from legal claims that may arise from alleged issues.

Liability insurance may cover legal defense costs, settlements, and any damages awarded. Liability insurance acts as a sort of safety net, giving you more peace of mind to focus on what you do best: providing extraordinary care.

Worker’s compensation insurance

Amber Barna, RNIt’s no secret that your job can sometimes be physically demanding. From lifting patients to handling sharp objects to being exposed to infectious diseases, accidents may happen. Should you find yourself in a hazardous situation, worker’s compensation insurance can help while you recover.

At Fusion Medical Staffing, we provide worker’s comp coverage to our travelers for on-the-job injuries. That way, you can focus on what you do best: provide top-notch traveler care.

Short-term disability insurance

Short-term disability insurance can be a lifeline for healthcare travelers if an unexpected injury or health issues arise that puts you on the sidelines for a few weeks or longer while on assignment.

“In my role as a Leaves and Benefits Specialist at Fusion, I've seen firsthand how essential our benefits are,” said Colleen Hogy, Fusion’s leaves and benefits specialist. “Short-term disability provides crucial financial support during recovery from injury or illness, complemented by additional financial assistance from our ancillary benefits.”

This type of insurance coverage may help cover your bills and daily expenses so you can heal properly. In a profession where taking care of others is your priority, short-term disability coverage helps makes sure you’re also taken care of when you may need it most. As a Fusion Medical Staffing traveler, you could receive up to $500 a week for up to 26 weeks of short-term disability.

Identity theft protection

In an age of ever-evolving technology, digital protection has never been more important. Identity theft protection can offer an added layer of protection to prevent you from becoming a target.

Identity theft protection swiftly notifies you if someone tries to misuse your financial and/or personal data and allows you to take immediate action. Through our partnership with Allstate Identity Protection, you can sign up for this optional benefit to gain access to 24/7 dedicated support and up to $1 million in expense reimbursement if fraud occurs. That way, you have one less thing taking up your valuable brain real estate.

Accident insurance

Whether it’s a slip, trip, or fall at work, accident insurance can soften the financial impact of medical bills, emergency treatment, and other out-of-pocket expenses that may not be covered by your health insurance plan. You’re always prepared for the unexpected when it comes to your patients — opting for accident insurance can better prepare you for the unexpected in your own life.

Critical illness coverage

As a caregiver, you’ve seen first-hand the impact that serious illnesses can have on patients and family members. That’s why we offer critical illness coverage with a cancer rider, to help offset the costs of treatment, if diagnosed.

With us, the covered critical illnesses may include heart attack, stroke, and cancer. Under this coverage, there is a lump-sum cash benefit that you can use for certain approved expenses, like deductibles, copays, transportation, or medical supplies. Even better? This coverage may also be available for your spouse and dependent children.

Hospital indemnity insurance

Being a patient when you’re usually a provider can be tough. Bills from healthcare facilities only add to the stress. Hospital indemnity insurance could help ease some of the potential financial burden.

Your health insurance may cover a lot of the costs after copays are made and deductibles are met, but there can still be a chunk of out-of-pocket expenses. Hospital indemnity insurance plans help with hospital costs by paying the policyholder directly, so you can focus all your energy on getting better.

Employee assistance program

For other levels of protection, there’s our employee assistance program (EAP). Whether you’re looking for assistance with family problems, marital concerns, financial and legal matters, stress, depression, and other issues impacting your personal or work life, highly trained professionals may be available to help you 24/7/365 through the TELUS Health EAP.

Having access to an EAP gives you a confidential outlet for support and guidance. It can also provide protection by offering tools to manage stress, cope with trauma, and maintain overall well-being. Plus, EAPs can prevent burnout and promote mental health, allowing you to continue providing compassionate care to your patients without neglecting your own needs.

Frequently asked questions

Should I get allied or travel nurse malpractice insurance from a third-party insurance company?

We fully support you obtaining malpractice insurance from a third-party insurance company, in addition to the liability insurance we provide at Fusion Medical Staffing.

In the dynamic and fast-paced realm of healthcare travel, having liability insurance and other protection is not just beneficial, but can be essential.

With additional safety and protection measures, you can put your energy toward delivering top-notch patient care with less worry of unforeseen circumstances derailing your career. That’s why we offer so many options for protection, so you can navigate potential challenges with confidence and security.
