Accident insurance
Whether it’s a slip, trip, or fall at work, accident insurance can soften the financial impact of medical bills, emergency treatment, and other out-of-pocket expenses that may not be covered by your health insurance plan. You’re always prepared for the unexpected when it comes to your patients — opting for accident insurance can better prepare you for the unexpected in your own life.
Critical illness coverage
As a caregiver, you’ve seen first-hand the impact that serious illnesses can have on patients and family members. That’s why we offer critical illness coverage with a cancer rider, to help offset the costs of treatment, if diagnosed.
With us, the covered critical illnesses may include heart attack, stroke, and cancer. Under this coverage, there is a lump-sum cash benefit that you can use for certain approved expenses, like deductibles, copays, transportation, or medical supplies. Even better? This coverage may also be available for your spouse and dependent children.
Hospital indemnity insurance
Being a patient when you’re usually a provider can be tough. Bills from healthcare facilities only add to the stress. Hospital indemnity insurance could help ease some of the potential financial burden.
Your health insurance may cover a lot of the costs after copays are made and deductibles are met, but there can still be a chunk of out-of-pocket expenses. Hospital indemnity insurance plans help with hospital costs by paying the policyholder directly, so you can focus all your energy on getting better.
Employee assistance program
For other levels of protection, there’s our employee assistance program (EAP). Whether you’re looking for assistance with family problems, marital concerns, financial and legal matters, stress, depression, and other issues impacting your personal or work life, highly trained professionals may be available to help you 24/7/365 through the TELUS Health EAP.
Having access to an EAP gives you a confidential outlet for support and guidance. It can also provide protection by offering tools to manage stress, cope with trauma, and maintain overall well-being. Plus, EAPs can prevent burnout and promote mental health, allowing you to continue providing compassionate care to your patients without neglecting your own needs.
Frequently asked questions
Should I get allied or travel nurse malpractice insurance from a third-party insurance company?
We fully support you obtaining malpractice insurance from a third-party insurance company, in addition to the liability insurance we provide at Fusion Medical Staffing.
Having additional malpractice coverage can add even more protection, and make sure you’re covered in case of claims or lawsuits related to your professional duties. This extra coverage could offer higher limits, broader protections, and personalized support tailored to your individual needs. There’s no such thing as too much coverage, after all.
What are the perks of added protection for healthcare professionals?
In the dynamic and fast-paced realm of healthcare travel, having liability insurance and other protection is not just beneficial, but can be essential.
With additional safety and protection measures, you can put your energy toward delivering top-notch patient care with less worry of unforeseen circumstances derailing your career. That’s why we offer so many options for protection, so you can navigate potential challenges with confidence and security.
How do I enroll in these offered protection benefits?
Since these benefits are optional, you must enroll upon hire, during open enrollment, or in the event of a qualified life event.
New to Fusion Medical Staffing? You’ll complete enrollment within 30 days of your date of hire. If you miss the deadline, you will not have benefits coverage, except for company-paid benefits.
Open enrollment occurs annually and allows you to update and re-enroll in your elected benefits. Changes made during open enrollment are effective beginning January 1 of the following year.
Because of IRS regulations, you can’t change your elections until the next open enrollment period, unless you have a qualified life event during the year. Such events may include marriage or divorce, birth or adoption of a child, child reaching the maximum age limit, death of a spouse, domestic partner, or child, losing coverage, or gaining access to state coverage under Medicaid or CHIP.
